This web portal is operated by IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, as part of the Building River Dialogue and Governance (BRIDGE) project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Building River Dialogue and Governance (BRIDGE) is an IUCN initiative that focuses on enhancing water governance capacities in nine trans-boundary basins in three regions across the globe. Through approaches that emphasize stakeholder learnings and consensus building, BRIDGE aims to catalyze transboundary cooperation for equitable and sustainable water resources development.
BRIDGE is implemented by IUCN with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
In the Mekong region, BRIDGE activities are carried out in the Sekong, Sesan and Sre Pok river basins. Each activity is tailored to meet three main objectives:
- Establishing frameworks for institutional arrangements and trans-boundary collaborations
- Enriching and fortifying knowledge sharing platforms
- Enhancing leadership and governance capacities
The International Union for Conservation of Nature is the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization.
The IUCN secretariat, with support from its member organizations, works through its theme-based programmes to deliver results in five priority areas: biodiversity, climate change, sustainable energy, human well-being and green economy. BRIDGE is an initiative of the IUCN Water Programme.
